Calambrone sea

The seaside resort of Calambrone is the last stretch of the coast of the Natural Park of Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli, right where the province of Pisa and Leghorn border on.

The beach is surrounded by the extended Calambrone Estate, area of great interest .

The city, as we know it today dates back to the thirties of the twentieth century, but in the Middle Ages we must imagine this area as occupied by the vast port on which the Maritime Republic of Pisa leaning his power.
When the harbor was silted up, the area became a vast swamp that remained uninhabited until the twentieth century, when the fascist urban project reclaimed the shoreline to build colonies for sun treatment of children between 6 and 12 years .

Today Calambrone knows a revival due to a large restoration project of the former summer camps buildings and development of the town.
In addition to the seaside holidays, Calambrone is often chosen as a base destination due to its strategic proximity to the port of Leghorn and for links to the Tuscan archipelago.
